Born in Bucharest, Romania, Alexandru Mihail earned his BA in theatre directing from The National University of Theatre and Film "I.L. Caragiale”. In 2005 he won the prestigious UNITER Prize for Debut for his production of Peter Shaffer's Black Comedy. He also directed The Dresser by Ronald Harwood (Constanta State Theatre, 2009); Tlicked by Gabriel Pintilei (Odeon Theatre, Bucharest, 2010); and the television series Poor Man, Rich Man (MediaPro Pictures). In 2009, Alexandru won a Fulbright Scholarship to attend the MFA program at Yale School of Drama. At the Drama School and the Yale Cabaret, his productions have included Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, the friendship of her thighs, a new play by Martyna Majok, Chekhov's The Wedding Reception and Ingmar Bergman's Persona. His most recent production was Chekhov’s The Seagull at the University Theatre in January 2012. He will be directing The Bachelors, a new play by Caroline V. McGraw, running May 6 to 12, 2012 in the Carlotta Festival of New Plays.
